Cheat Ullrich's Blood Confirmed to be linked to Puerto
Written by Steven Cozza
Finally the day has come that this guy was caught. It’s just too bad they couldn’t have caught the other large group of racers that have cheated during their time of competing; stealing money from the true honest racers. I have been so angry over all of this and am so glad to see cycling make a change for the better with teams like T-Mobile, CSC, and my team Slipstream stepping up to the plate to compete 100% clean throughout the whole year. When I read about Ullrichs DNA, testing to be the same as the bags found under his name in Madrid of last year I was so happy. We need to get these people out of the sport. I hope the other 50 riders who are under suspicion in the Operation Puerto Case are shitting their pants right now. If riders want to prove they are clean and care so much about their reputation than doesn’t it only make sense for them to join a program like ours. I have to get a blood test every Monday along with my other teammates in the area. Our tests are then sent to ASE who is now also working with WADA to analyze and make sure all our natural biological markers stay the same throughout the year. I challenge any other top athlete in our sport to consider pushing their team to do the same. If they are so clean and true to wanting to clean up the sport than you would think they would want to do this. I have no problem with giving DNA and Urine to keep this sport clean and anyone who wouldn’t want to do that is obviously a cheat. All the cheaters in this sport know who they are and I hope they feel bad about it every second of the day. This is a report full of anger but I don’t care, I am angry. I love the sport of cycling and I will not let anything get in the way of me doing it at my best. For those that are destroying it, they will come to justice and bad karma shall come their way as you will start to see as the years go on and they start dieing of heart attacks and other disorders they got from using so many doping products.
To end on a positive note, 2007 is by far the cleanest year ever for Professional cycling. This sport is truly a beautiful sport and will continue to move in a positive direction because that’s what cycling is all about. The cheaters will die out and a new Generation of cyclist will take cycling to a new honest level of competition. Where all cyclists are racing as a result of hard work and that’s it. The true heroes in this sport are the ones who compete clean and are leading the way for the new ones to come.
Soon you will be able to believe in a rider and have heroes again in this sport without worrying about one of them turning up positive. Ullrich used to be one of my heroes in the sport along with many others who have tested positive. It is all so really sad for that to happen. I am now able to race against riders I still look up to such as Alexander Vinokurav. I can only hope they are true clean racers and won't just be another cheat showing up in CyclingNews with a positive test.
The last race I was in up in northern France was an awesome race. I felt super empty but was proud of myself to be able to race and finish a race that I felt so bad in. With good rest I hope to be back up to par for my next set of races on the 6th, 8th and 10-14th; all in France.
Thanks for reading and thanks for continuing to believe in cycling,I sure won’t give up on it
Thanks for reading,
