Tales from the Tarmac 04-04-07

I road to the Mediterranean with my team for the first time today, we were all blown away with how nice the day was on the way out there. We stopped for some coffee and strawberries at a beach side Cafe. It was just perfect except I didn’t spot any 300 pound nude lobsters on the beach so I was a bit bummed about that. The time came to ride home as we were all starting to fall asleep in our chairs from the sun beating down on us. On our way back from the coast we had to cross over a coastal mountain range, so I decided to do another one of my prescribed intervals. As the interval was ramping up I noticed a huge dark cloud in the valley in the direction we were headed. I decided to just keep on going, drilling it to beat this cloud. First the rain came, so I pulled on my awesome life saving goretex rain jacket. Then the hail came. This was not ordinary hail. This was Kansas Wizard of Oz size hail. The hail was the size of marbles and bigger. I was riding through a storm of bullets stinging my whole body especially my bare hands. All the cars on the road were pulling over but I kept on going. Then the lightning came and struck about 100 feet away from me and all the hair on my body stood up, but I kept on going. I road so fast the lighting couldn’t even catch me. I made it home, jumped into the shower, mumbled a Hail Mary, and made some pasta before doing my crunches and passing out.

Up to France I fly tomorrow

Steven
