Girona Spain 03-05-07
Written by Steven Cozza
After the tour of California I came down with a bad cold. But after spending the past week in Girona I’ve overcome it and I credit the warm Spanish sunshine. Spain has got to be one of the happiest places on earth. After spending so many cold springs living and training in Belgium this is a great change for me as a cyclist needing to go out and ride everyday. My tan lines are coming on way stronger than ever this early in the year and I love it.
I’ve spent my time from the Tour of California to now mainly doing easy rides and resting to fight off the brutal cold. Tomorrow the team and I fly to Belgium for a one day, and then a three day race known as West Vlanderan. This race has been canceled in the past because of snow and ice on the roads but I think this year we will be in luck. I love racing in Belgium so I am quite excited about these races. I’ll most likely use the one day race; La Somyn on Wednesday to wake up the legs and dust off the cobwebs after taking it easy and getting over being sick the past week. This will help set me up to have good form for West Vlanderan on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will be great racing back on all the roads I am so familiar with.
Well the Girona, 10 o’clock, 1000 year old church bells are ringing, so off to bed I go.
With news from Belgium to come soon.
Thanks for reading,
Steven
